RTU Shows Solidarity with UDS Ahead of Universities World Cup in China
In a display of camaraderie and support, Real Tamale United (RTU) has stepped up to bolster the preparations of the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team as they gear up to represent Ghana and Africa at the upcoming Universities World Cup in China.
A delegation from RTU, headed by CEO Zakaria Safianu and accompanied by other executive members, made a special visit during one of UDS’ training sessions at the Tamale Campus to donate a generous supply of assorted minerals and bottled water. The contribution, aimed at enhancing the team’s hydration and nutrition during rigorous training, was warmly received by the university’s sporting officials.

Mr. Zakaria Safianu, in a heartfelt address delivered at the session, urged the UDS players to “go all out” not only for the pride of their university, but to carry the aspirations of the entire African continent on their shoulders. His message emphasized the weight of their representation and the broader significance of their performance on the world stage.
Receiving the items on behalf of the team, UDS’s Director of Sports, Mr. Shaibu Tanko Ibrahim, expressed deep gratitude to RTU’s management. “We thank Real Tamale United for this thoughtful and timely support,” he said. “Rest assured, our team is fully committed to training diligently and giving everything to bring the trophy home, not just for UDS, but for Ghana and Africa.”
This demonstration of solidarity between a professional club and a university side highlights the strong sporting spirit and regional unity that transcends club affiliations. As UDS prepares for the global competition in China, the backing from RTU sends a clear message of confidence and hope for their success.
