The University for Development Studies (UDS) is part of a groundbreaking initiative to develop a Pan-African curriculum on Landscape Restoration, aimed at equipping the next generation of restoration professionals with interdisciplinary skills. Partnering with the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and other African universities, the programme addresses the growing demand for experts in ecosystem restoration, aligned with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030).

The curriculum integrates environmental science, agriculture, economics, governance, and social sciences, offering postgraduate students specialised training, access to Pan-African networks, and opportunities for joint research and cross-institutional learning. The programme adopts a transformative education approach, shifting from traditional teaching to student-centred, practice-based learning.

Postgraduate students at UDS and partner institutions will benefit from skills-based training, academic mobility, and regional exposure, positioning them to drive sustainable development across Africa.

The initiative opens new research and mobility opportunities, with plans for scholarship funds, exchange programmes, and regional learning hubs.
