The Management of the University for Development Studies (UDS), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, led the triumphant UDS football team to formally present the FISU World Cup Trophy to the Paramount Chief (Kumbung-Na Yiri) of the Kumbungu Traditional Area, Naa Alhaji Abu Iddrisu II.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the Paramount Chief on the team’s inspiring journey to victory, from the preparatory stages through to the final match that saw UDS crowned World Champions. He expressed profound gratitude to the Paramount Chief for the warm reception accorded the University delegation and for his continuous support and blessings.

 
In his remarks, Kumbung-Na Yiri Naa Alhaji Abu Iddrisu II expressed immense pride in the team’s historic achievement, describing it as a great honor not only to UDS but to the entire Northern Region and Ghana as a whole. As a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, the Paramount Chief made a generous donation of a bull, several tubers of yam, and an amount of GHC6,000 to the victorious team.

The University deeply appreciates the Paramount Chief’s kind gesture and moral support, which continue to inspire the UDS community to greater heights.
