According to the 2026 rankings, UDS is ranked No. 1 in Ghana for Quality Teaching, a feat that underscores the University’s dedication to providing transformative education that empowers students to create real-world impact.

The University also secured the No. 2 position in Ghana for International Outlook, reflecting its growing global partnerships, cross-border collaborations, and increasing appeal to international students and scholars.

Overall, UDS is ranked No. 4 among all universities in Ghana, consolidating its place as one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher learning. Commenting on the development during the welcome ceremony for the FISU World Champions, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seidu Al-hassan, noted that the ranking reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. “This recognition from Times Higher Education is not just a win for UDS; it’s a win for the entire Northern Ghana and for all who believe in the power of development-oriented education,” he stated.
